8. When the Church tells you that Mary
offered Jesus on the cross, and the
Bible teaches that Jesus offered Himself, in whom do you put your trust?
The Church does not teach that Mary offered Jesus on the cross.
The Church teaches, rightly, that Jesus freely accepted death on
the cross and offered himself. The Church simply recognizes that
as a simple fact of biology Mary as a mother offered her son on
the cross, she did nothing to try and stop Jesus or persuade him to
do otherwise. She watched all of it with out protest but in
humble obedience to God who gave her the gift of being the Mother
of the Savior of the World. In this we place our trust in God. |
