6. When the Church tells you that
the Pope is infallible, and God tells you
that there is none righteous, no, not one; in whom do you put your trust?
The issue of the infallibility of the Pope comes only with
regards to his teaching on faith and morals. It does not apply to
his own life in general. Catholics believe that the Holy Spirit
guides the Church in these teachings, hence the infallibility. It
is Christ who is head of his body, the Church. He guides it and he
is never wrong. In this we trust in Jesus. |
